What is CarbonBuilder Canola?

CarbonBuilder Canola is one of our ground-breaking microbial products that supports canola’s natural ability to draw down carbon into cropping soils. CarbonBuilder Canola is an endophytic fungi applied as a seed dressing, and is compatible with most fungicidal seed treatments in Australia.

The beneficial fungi in CarbonBuilder Canola are novel dark septate ascomycetous fungi belonging to the order Chaetosphaeriales. The product has been screened and tested at scale by our R&D team in Australia, with a focus on large-scale field testing across climatic zones and soil types.

What are the results?
CarbonBuilder Canola was trialled extensively through the 2022 season. Here are the results.
CarbonBuilder Canola was successfully trialled over the 2022 growing season. All trialling regions experienced higher than average rainfall, with some areas experiencing water logging. All of our trialling work was carried out under standard practice for the region in which the trial is grown.
Across our randomised small-plot trial locations, we observed an average 5.2% increase in total soil carbon when the crop was treated with CarbonBuilder Canola compared to crop that was not treated. We saw a win-rate of 75% across locations, or an increase in total soil carbon compared to control at 6 of 8 locations.
