8 Women Entrepreneurs Tackling The Climate Crisis – With Tech And Funding

These eight women are the exception that proves the potential. The vast majority of venture capitalists (97%) are men and the lack of women in early stage startups and funding are stark. “The gender gap in early-stage companies is real,” says Jeff Burke, whose recent newsletter called this out. “Only about 25% of companies are founded by women, and more than 90% of total funding goes to male-led companies.” But these entrepreneurs, identified by Burke with the assistance of investors Seth Bannon, Deena Shakir and Ann Bordetsky, were “some of the most qualified founders I had seen.”
